Review: Before I start writing my observations on this volume, I need to emphasize the art of the mangaka Makoto Yukimura. This manga has impressive art, it's one of the best things about Vinland Saga. The art is very rich in landscapes, but it's incredible when the paintings give close-ups of the characters' faces.
This manga doesn't have much action, the volume delivers another duel between Thorfinn and Askeladd, and I think this is the only action scene in volume seven. For now the manga is focusing more on the story, Prince Canute is hatching a plan to kill the king, his father, and our heroes are helping him.
The political story is very entertaining, and this other side of the manga is also very interesting. As they are all against each other, there are moments of suspense, and it's very interesting to see all the manipulation to win the crown. This volume will also feature a flashback to Askeladd's childhood, which was very nice. Askeladd is very similar to Thorfinn in his thirst for revenge. For now, the manga is focusing on the plot without too much blood, but it's still an incredible manga.
